How can your family help?
** VOLUNTEER — Check the packet for information on volunteer opportunities or sign up online – any amount of time you can give is appreciated! 8th graders can volunteer to fulfill their community service hours requirement.
** DONATE — Do you have a vacation rental or season tickets? A valuable service or special goods that could help raise $$ in the auction? Consider donating your item to the cause! Past items have included free photo sessions, one free house cleaning, homemade dessert once a month for a year, a weekend at a Tahoe cabin…
** ORGANIZE — Do you have an idea for an amazing activity to include in this year’s festivities? Let us know if you’d like to organize a craft activity or a carnival game. Our parent community has so much talent to offer!

Buy an emergency kit and help Ocean View students!

Support Ocean View while getting prepared for an earthquake. MorePrepared.com is selling emergency preparedness kits for the Ocean View PTA. There are different types and sizes of kits to choose from for your home, car and office. All kits contain the basic food, water, shelter, first aid and other supplies necessary to sustain you in the event of a disaster.  The food and water are good for 5 years so you can continue to rely on the kit year after year.  After 5 years, simply replace the expired items, no need to purchase a whole new kit.
100% of Ocean View PTA’s profits from purchases of any items on this website will be used to support the PTA and its programs. The fundraiser will run through November 30, 2014.  Please don’t forget to use the promo code “OVE14” at checkout so that our school gets credit for your purchase.  Thank you for your support!
And come to the parent education night Thursday – October 2 – 7-8:30pm!

SchoolCARE needs your help

Dear Albany Family,

Thank you.

I wanted to make sure I had the chance to say that before winter break and the end of the calendar year.

And we need you with us so we’re ready to make next year in Albany’s schools even better. Please, consider making a special gift to SchoolCARE today.

Without you, SchoolCARE would not have been able to fill the gap between declining state funding and Albany’s needs for essential services and critical teaching positions since 2001. Thank you.

Without you, SchoolCARE would not be making a huge difference across the district, equitably supporting teachers and staff at each school level. This year at the elementary level, we would not have been able to support the reading and intervention specialists, and art enrichment. Thank you.

This year at Albany Middle School (AMS), we would not have been able to fund the library technician and counseling. This fall, that counseling support has been even more important to the AMS students than ever before. Thank you.

This year at Albany High School, we would not have been able to support the library aide or cover four elective sections which enhance student choice and schedule flexibility that could help those kids who want to get into a University of California school. Thank you.

And this year at MacGregor High School, we would not have been able to help fund their career tech program. Thank you.

So as you prepare for your school break and celebrations, I wanted you to know how much I appreciate your participation in SchoolCARE.

Please donate now to our end-of-year appeal so that we can have the funding we need to fill the gap between what the state provides for teachers and staff and what our schools need to be excellent next year. We need everyone on Board to help us reach our goal of $50,000 by December 31. We simply can’t do this without you.

Consider our suggested donation of $500 per child, or a recurring donation of $40/month – or whatever you can do. It all makes a huge difference.
So please join the SchoolCARE family today by donating here. Supporting education in Albany has never been more important.

And again…for making a difference, thank you.

With gratitude,

Yael Bloom
SchoolCARE President

P.S. See the fabulous folks who have donated to the 2012-2013 school year on our SchoolCARE Family Page at www.albanyschoolcare.org/schoolcare-family.html. Please donate today and we’ll make sure your name is listed, too!
