Open House, Art & Science Fair
Thursday, May 23, 5:00 to 8:00 p.m.

This event will need volunteers to help our Art Teacher, Mary Ernest and Science Teacher Amanda Cohen. Mary Ernst is looking for people to help with preparations for the Art Fair and the night of the Open House, Thursday, May 23rd from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM. Volunteers are needed in advance to mat, frame, and set up the art and to sell frames during open house. Amanda Cohen is looking for volunteers to help set up and put ribbons on the science fair projects during the day. Also help as needed for the science fair preparations.

Field Day – Lunch on the Field
Friday, May 24, 11:00 – 1:30 p.m.

This event will need volunteers to help students navigate to the field for lunch. We will also need help with coordinate small group activities for the students until it is time to return to class.

Talent Show

To buy: Submit your check to the OFFICE, payable to OV PTA-MB BEFORE April 12.

Spring BONUS feature! You have the opportunity to purchase a Memory Book for your child’s teacher(s).  A ”Teacher/Staff Wish-List” will be available in the office. This could be a great spring gift to give from your family or an entire class! Each book purchased for a teacher/staff will also include a “certificate of purchase” for you to give to the teacher/staff.

Serving on the PTA is an excellent way to
contribute to Ocean View Elementary. In today’s difficult economic times, the PTA has played a crucial role in filling
some of the gaps left by the budget crisis and in providing enriching experiences for our children.

Currently, we are most in need of candidates for the following three positions: Recording Secretary, Historian, and New
Business Coordinator.

You are also welcome to run for any of our other positions listed on the Ocean View PTA website. See the attachment below for detailed job descriptions.

If you are interested in running for a position on the PTA or in nominating someone for a position, please contact the PTA

Let’s blossom our way into spring!

In celebration of the 100th day of school, February 6th, Ocean View PTA will be kicking off the third annual 100-A-Thon! This fundraiser is designed to support and enhance programs at Ocean View that directly benefit your children. Our school needs this money to support our children’s education and childhood experience! Contributions go towards:

☼ All PTA funded programs
☼ Much-needed supplies for the classrooms
☼ Field trips & special assemblies
☼ Noontime staff support
☼ Afterschool intervention programs
☼ 5th grade graduation
☼ Teacher appreciation week
☼ Gardening projects & school site enhancement
☼ Parent education programs
☼ and much, much more!

The goal of the 100-A-Thon is to raise money by requesting that each student’s family contribute $100 to the OV PTA. We understand that not everyone can afford this type of donation, nor is it a requirement. If $100 is too much, PLEASE consider a smaller donation in the amount of $50, $25, or less. Remember, the goal is to support our children with 100% participation. Last year we were proud that we raised over $10,000, but we know that we can do even better this year! It is this type of community support that makes Albany, and Ocean View school, such exceptional places!

Every donation will earn a pink blossom onto our 100-A-Thon tree next to the main office! Your child will also enjoy a (temporary) tattoo, button, and coloring activity, to celebrate with us. Please, spread the word and donate today so that we can blossom our way into spring!

Prizes will be available for various activities (hula hoop and jump rope contest etc.) and all activities, including the cakewalk, are free! Starting at 7:30 pm, there will be a crazy sock fashion show so be sure to wear your craziest/best socks!! Food will be available for purchase and please consider donating a delicious homemade baked good to the cakewalk!!
